Centre for Preclinical research excellence

The Centre for preclinical research excellence (CPRE) at Shri Vishnu College of Pharmacy was established to conduct preclinical research in the Institute and also to provide these facilities to the neighbouring institutes. We are having the central animal house facility according to CPCSEA norms. Currently we are having facilities to perform the bioanalytical studies, behavioural studies (Water maze, Radial arm maze, Y maze, Novel object recognition test, open field test, Elevated plus maze test, etc.), biochemical studies and also to explore the molecular pathways.
Presently our team is mainly focussing on the evaluation of pharmacological potencies of various herbal products, Phyto pharmaceutical drugs, NCE’s against various in vivo diseases models, particularly depression, neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes and organ protective studies.

Centre for Analytical Research Excellence (CARE)

The CARE is one of the best research centre in Analytical Chemistry within Andhra Pradesh academic institutions. We are offering to our students a considerable study program with a focus on Analytical & Bioanalytical Chemistry as well as in allied sciences. Our students are learning all fundamentals of modern analytical techniques. We are offering the students for fairly attractive and will cover the way to professional carrier of our graduates (B.Pharm, M.Pharm and Ph.Ds).  Research in analytical chemistry continues to enjoy healthy growth as biological  nd applied sciences, place increased prominence and demands on chemical analysis of biological active molecules. Our faculty was engaged in teaching and research covering various areas in particular using Spectrophotometric, Chromatographic, Electrochemical and Thermal methods of analysis.
Our major goal is to develop new analytical and bioanalytical methods for various APIs and their formulations; preparation and analysis of nanoparticles and their formulations; metals analysis; particle size analysis etc.

Centre for Neuroscience Research (CNR)

Shri Vishnu College of Pharmacy (SVCP) is a leading institute in the fields of pharmaceutical research. The institute has a dedicated “Centre for Neuroscience Research (CNR)” for research on various topics such as Anxiety, Depression, Neuroprotective, Stroke, Neurobiology, Perception, Attention, Decision making, and other neuro research topics.
The centre has dedicated laboratory facilities for behavioural studies using Morris water maze, Y- Maze, Radial 8 arms, pole climbing apparatus, actophotometer, UV- Visible spectrophotometer, animal video tracking system with camera and software with recording facility. The centre in co-ordination with other centre of excellences in the college undertakes various inter and intra disciplinary research projects.

Centre for Nanotechnology Research ( CNTR)

Nanotechnology is multidisciplinary field covering areas like engineering, electronics, physics, molecular biology, biophysics, medical and pharmaceuticals. The properties of material at
nanoscale are different than macro scale. Nanotechnology in dosage form development have many advantages like enhanced solubility, increased dissolution rate, enhanced stability,
reduction in dosage, increase in bioavailability and rapid onset of action. Various applications of nanotechnology include oral drug delivery, pulmonary drug delivery, ocular drug deliver,
gene therapy, cancer treatment, brain targeting, as a diagnostic tool, enhanced efficacy & decreased toxicity of Anticancer & anti infective drugs.
Over the past couple of decades nanotechnology is proving its importance in drug delivery.  In Latin language, meaning of word nano is dwarf (small). In 1974, Tokyo science university
Professor Norio Taniguchi coined the word nanotechnology and since then it is being used.   Any technology which deals at nanoscale is called as nanotechnology. These changed
particles of drug molecule in nano scale can lead to increased performance in different dosage form. ( Nanotechnology is playing very important role to fight against various life-
threatening diseases like cancer.

It helps in detection of various neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, diabetes mellitus, sensing viruses and microorganism. Nanotechnology
can be used in pharmaceutical sciences like development of nanomedicines, diagnosis, tissue engineering and development of biomarkers, biosensors, targeted drug delivery. Various
nano based technologies are used in pharmaceutical sciences like Quantum dots, Dendrimers, Carbon nanotubes, Liposomes, Polymeric nanoparticles, Metallic nanoparticles, Polymeric
micelles, Nanocomposites and many more.

We have worked on Solid Lipid Nanoparticles of Bortezomib & Enzalutamide. Also, students have worked on electrospun nanofibers of Simvastatin, Nateglinide, Nimesulide, Meloxicam & Lornoxicam.

Centre for Pharmaceutical & Herbal Research

The Centre for Pharmaceutical & Herbal Research at Shri Vishnu College of Pharmacy was established to encourage & support research in the area of Medicinal plants. We are maintaining crude drug Museum and Medicinal Garden. Currently we are having
facilities for identifying the medicinal plants, evaluating the plant materials as per WHO Guidelines, conducting studies for Monograph preparation.
Presently our team is mainly engaged in the pharmacognostic standardization and pharmacological evaluation of herbal materials and crude extracts. Other research activities include phytochemical studies, isolation of secondary metabolites and docking studies. Our major goal is the search for lead molecules and incorporates them in a suitable herbal formulation for better therapeutic activity through In-Silico
studies.
