The main goal of Shri Vishnu College of Pharmacy led Center for Preclinical Research Excellence (SVCPs-CPRE) is to train, support and collaborate with pharmacy, life science and multidisciplinary researchers (academia or industry) engaged in unraveling mysteries of physiology, pathophysiology and response to pharmacotherapy or non-pharmacotherapy strategies on live experimental animals, namely mice and rats. All animals in this center are maintained as per norms and the center is committed to the ethical principles of 3Rs (Reduction, Refinement and Replacement). Preclinical screening (studies on animals; Nonclinical) of chemical or biological agents for safety and efficacy is a prerequisite as per regulatory authorities (eg. ICMR, EMA, FDA etc) to test agents in clinical trials (studies in human beings). Testing of agents in well designed and controlled preclinical and clinical studies gives valuable information with regard to safety, therapeutic efficacy and effectiveness of agent, thereby allowing regulatory authorities to give approval for medical use in human beings. The center is gearing up to offer preliminary toxicology studies and models mimicking a wide variety of human disorders to facilitate the discovery and development of safe, effective and affordable drugs for betterment of human health. This effort is a part of SVCPs commitment to become a Center of Excellence in pharmaceutical education and research.
