The department of pharmaceutical chemistry is one of the central important branches of the institute. It is equipped with state of the art facilities to undertake academics in Bachelor of pharmacy course. Presently, the department has initiated research on phytochemical, physico-chemical and biological activities. In the frontier area of phytochemical research, the focus will be laid on isolation, characterization and evaluation of biological activities both by invitro and invivo models.
To strengthen our academic and research potential, we would like to introduce master of pharmacy in pharmaceutical chemistry in the following areas of interest such as Computer aided drug design, Molecular modeling methods based on molecular mechanisms and quantum mechanics.
Identification and validation of novel target sites for various therapeutic areas: design and synthesis of new chemical entities such as anti aids, antineoplastics, anti-inflammatory, antitubercular, antidepressants etc
Research scholars and post-graduate students are involved in research and avail the extensive resources available in the Department. Undergraduates are also provided an opportunity to be involved in research.
The Department has experienced and highly qualified staff members who have been exposed to collaboration with national and international universities; institutions and companies.
The Department has attracted funding from various governmental and non governmental, non-profitable organizations such as AICTE, ICMR and DST. |
